Profile
Workshop17 Watershed Cape Town occupies a magnificently converted warehouse on the upper floor of the iconic Watershed building at 17 Dock Road, V&A Waterfront — one of Africa’s most recognisable addresses for business, events, and conferencing. With unobstructed views across the harbour to Table Mountain and a location that places guests at the very heart of Cape Town’s waterfront precinct, it is one of the most distinctive event and coworking venues in the Western Cape.
A Venue Above the City’s Best Craft Market
The Watershed building itself is one of the V&A Waterfront’s landmark structures. At ground level it houses a curated market of proudly South African craft, design, and artisan goods. Workshop17 sits directly above on the upper floor — an address that combines the cultural vibrancy of the market below with the professional infrastructure of a premium shared workspace. Guests arriving for events or meetings pass through one of Cape Town’s most engaging retail environments before stepping into a world-class conference and coworking facility. The building sits next to the Two Oceans Aquarium, within a few minutes’ walk of the V&A’s hotels, restaurants, and transport connections.
Location Manager Laura Munch oversees both the Watershed and Century City locations for Workshop17. With deep local knowledge and a reputation for warm, organised service, Laura is the first point of contact for event enquiries, membership questions, and bespoke office solutions at the Watershed.
Event Spaces: From Boardroom to 200-Person Gala
Workshop17 Watershed’s event offering is structured across three tiers to accommodate everything from an intimate client briefing to a large-scale product launch or corporate gala.
Main Event Space (80–200 guests)
The flagship event hall at Workshop17 Watershed is Cape Town’s most striking conference room with a harbour view. It seats up to 200 guests and is equipped with four large screens for conferencing, four handheld microphones, a dedicated stage, and LED lighting. The space can be dressed for anything from a seated conference to a cocktail evening, and the floor-to-ceiling warehouse architecture gives it a raw, contemporary character that no hotel ballroom can replicate. Pricing is R18,500 (excl. VAT) for a half-day session and R30,000 (excl. VAT) for a full day.
Seminar Rooms A & B (20–70 guests each)
Two seminar rooms provide a versatile mid-size option for workshops, training sessions, product presentations, and town halls. Each is configured with tables and chairs, Wi-Fi, a 100″ LCD TV, and one handheld microphone. Seminar Room A and B can be booked independently or — depending on the configuration — used in conjunction for larger breakout formats. Pricing is R7,000 (excl. VAT) for a half-day and R12,500 (excl. VAT) for a full day.
Meeting Rooms 3 & 4 (6–16 guests)
Two mid-size meeting rooms are available for team sessions, client meetings, and working groups of up to 16 people. Both are equipped with tables and chairs, fast Wi-Fi, writable glass walls for collaborative working, and screen conferencing capability. Each room is priced at R920 (excl. VAT) per hour or R7,360 (excl. VAT) for a full day.
Meeting Rooms 2, 5 & 6 (1–6 guests)
Three smaller consultation rooms accommodate groups of up to six people, ideal for one-on-one client calls, executive briefings, or focused working sessions. Meeting Room 6 features a writable glass wall alongside standard screen conferencing and Wi-Fi. Meeting Rooms 2 and 5 have writable walls. All three are priced at R420 (excl. VAT) per hour or R3,360 (excl. VAT) for a full day. Event spaces and meeting rooms are available to non-members as well as Workshop17 members.
Coworking Membership: Working at the Waterfront

The Studio17 Podcast Studio
Workshop17 Watershed is also home to Studio17, a professional-grade podcast recording studio available for hire. The studio is suited to business podcasts, audio content production, video recordings, and internal communications — an increasingly valuable facility for companies that produce regular content.
A National Network with a Cape Town Address
Workshop17 currently operates locations across South Africa — including Sandton, Rosebank, Hyde Park Corner, Gardens (Kloof Street), Newlands Cricket Ground, Century City, and Paarl (Tabakhuis) — as well as sites in Ballito (KwaZulu-Natal) and four locations in Mauritius, with Muizenberg (opening end of 2026) and Hazelwood, Pretoria (opening 2027) in the pipeline.
