Kelvin Grove Club in Newlands is one of the largest private social and sports clubs in South Africa, set around a manor house and gardens with views of Table Mountain. The club was formed in 1925 as the Western Province Sports Club, on land first granted in 1779. John Brodie named the homestead Kelvin Grove in 1881, and it was later redesigned by Sir Herbert Baker. Its function venues are open to non-members, with better rates for members.
Function Venues
More than 1,200 m² of function space for 12 to 400 guests:
- Ballroom: up to 350 for dinner or 400 cinema-style, with an ante room, stage, balcony and sweeping staircases. It can be partitioned.
- Grill Room: balconies overlooking the pool and Table Mountain, a sprung dance floor, a stage and its own bar. Ideal for buffets and dinner dances.
- Palmyra Room: above the Ballroom, with a balcony over the fountain. It can be combined with the Ballroom.
- Sports Pavilion: between two sports fields, with Table Mountain views and blackout blinds.
- Brodie Suite: the Brodie, Oakview and Mariendahl rooms, together or separately.
- The Cream Lounge and the restaurant's Wine Cellar.

Weddings, dinners, business lunches, receptions, birthdays, anniversaries, conferences, presentations, board meetings and team building.
Catering
A banqueting menu (plated or buffet), a halaal banqueting menu, a conference package and a banqueting wine list.
Fun Casino Evenings at Kelvin Grove
Fun Casino Entertainment has entertained at Kelvin Grove since 2022, at parties and birthdays in the Grill Room for 60 to 100 guests. The Grill Room's stage, dance floor and private bar make it a natural fit for a casino evening.
