About Olive Convention Centre
The Olive Convention Centre is KwaZulu-Natal’s second largest convention and exhibition centre, situated in the heart of Durban, just metres from the famous Golden Mile beachfront and within easy reach of the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Opened in 2010 on the site of the historic Durban Ice Rink, the Olive Convention Centre has rapidly established itself as one of Durban’s premier conference, exhibition, and entertainment venues, combining a rich historical legacy with contemporary, technologically advanced facilities.
Event Spaces and Capacity
The centre’s 10,000m² facility offers exceptional flexibility, accommodating events from intimate meetings of 30 delegates to large conferences and concerts of up to 1,950 delegates. The venue comprises four large multipurpose halls — the Olive Theatre, Banqueting Hall, Hall of Learning, and Durban Arena — alongside ten meeting rooms and five boardrooms, all supported by breakaway spaces, foyers, cafés, and balconies with city and ocean views. The Olive Theatre seats up to 2,500 in theatre configuration, while the Banqueting Hall accommodates up to 1,000 guests for sit-down events.
Technical Infrastructure
The centre is equipped with advanced audio-visual systems, high-speed Wi-Fi, adaptable lighting, backup power, 280 on-site parking bays, and in-house food and beverage services. A dedicated technical team provides comprehensive support for all events, ensuring professional delivery at every scale.
