Profile
Nampo Park Bothaville is South Africa’s most significant agricultural exhibition venue and one of the most remarkable event sites on the African continent. Situated 19 kilometres north of Bothaville in the Free State, this purpose-built permanent showground is home to the annual NAMPO Harvest Day — the largest privately organised agricultural show in the southern hemisphere — and has grown over five decades into an expansive, world-class exhibition facility with infrastructure that few venues anywhere in Africa can match.
Why Nampo Park Bothaville Is in a Category of Its Own
The story of Nampo Park Bothaville begins in 1967, when the first NAMPO Harvest Day was held on a farm near Bloemfontein and attracted just 200 producers. The event grew so rapidly that by 1974 a permanent dedicated venue was established outside Bothaville — the site known today as Nampo Park. Over the following five decades, NAMPO Harvest Day transformed from a modest farming gathering into an internationally recognised agricultural trade show that draws more than 80,000 visitors over 4 days and attracts upwards of 746 exhibitors from across the agricultural, agribusiness, and commercial sectors.
Organised by Grain SA, NAMPO Harvest Day is held annually in May and provides manufacturers, distributors, and service providers in the agricultural sector with an unparalleled platform to exhibit, demonstrate, and sell to a highly targeted audience of commercial farmers, agribusiness professionals, and industry decision-makers.

NAMPO Harvest Day — Africa’s Biggest Agricultural Show
Held annually in May, NAMPO Harvest Day is the headline event at Nampo Park Bothaville and the defining agricultural gathering on the South African farming calendar. The 4-day trade show features:
- Interactive tractor and implement demonstrations — a unique feature that allows farmers to see machinery in action, not just on static display
- Livestock exhibitions showcasing cattle, sheep, goat, and horse breeds
- Seed cultivar plots adjacent to the Caltex hall
- Engen Tractor Museum
- 4×4 vehicle demonstrations
- Sampi halls for gifts, art, home décor, and artisan goods
- Alpha Insure Women’s Programme
- KamersMakers artisan showcase
- Grain SA museum
- Farmer’s Weekly stall and merchandise
The scale of the event transforms the normally quiet Free State town of Bothaville entirely — accommodation across the region books out months in advance, and the approach roads see queues of vehicles stretching back several kilometres during peak arrival times.
NAMPO ALFA — Livestock, Hunting & Outdoor Expo
In addition to NAMPO Harvest Day, Nampo Park Bothaville hosts the annual NAMPO ALFA Livestock, Hunting and Outdoor Expo — now recognised as the largest livestock expo in South Africa. Held in October, NAMPO ALFA combines elite beef cattle competitions, the National Lamb Champs, youth farm skills championships, hunting equipment exhibitions, 4×4 vehicle demonstrations, and firearms testing ranges in a single integrated event.
