Profile
Pretoria Country Club is one of the capital’s best-known sports and social clubs, set on Sidney Avenue in leafy Waterkloof. The club calls itself “a quality sports and social venue in Pretoria”, and its members simply call it home. For event organisers it offers something few city venues can: a golf course, sports facilities and function venues on one secure property, a short drive from Brooklyn, Menlyn and the Pretoria CBD.
A Sports and Social Club in Waterkloof
Besides its golf course, Pretoria Country Club offers tennis, squash, snooker, bowls and bridge, and runs a lively social calendar with its own wine fraternity, a young members’ group and a kids’ club. The club also offers short-term stays, which is useful for out-of-town guests at a golf day or family celebration. The setting is that of an established Pretoria country club: mature trees, wide lawns and the relaxed pace of Waterkloof.
Function Venues and Catering
The club has a dedicated venues section for private and corporate functions. Catering is handled by N9NE Catering, the club’s in-house caterer, so food and drinks are arranged in one place. For current room options, capacities and rates, contact the club directly or visit its website.
Golf Days at Pretoria Country Club
Golf days are where the club really shines. Players tee off on the club’s own course, then move to the clubhouse for prize-giving, dinner and entertainment without anyone needing to drive anywhere. Corporate golf days, charity days and social golf events all work well here, and the club’s members’ events calendar shows how much golf is part of its identity.
Fun Casino Evenings at Pretoria Country Club
Fun Casino Entertainment has run 16 events at Pretoria Country Club since 2019, more than at almost any other venue. Most were golf-day prize-givings and dinners, alongside milestone birthdays, year-end functions and corporate evenings, for groups of 50 to 190 guests. A casino evening after the golf works especially well: players head from the 19th hole straight to the blackjack, roulette and poker tables, and the prize-giving gets a second round of winners.
Planning Tips
- Book golf days early: spring and late-summer dates fill up first at established clubs.
- Plan the evening programme: prize-giving, dinner and entertainment flow best when they happen in the same clubhouse venue.
- Accommodation: ask about the club’s short-term stays for guests travelling from out of town.
