Profile
The Pietersburg Club Polokwane is one of the jewels in the crown of the Limpopo Province — a heritage hotel, conference venue, and restaurant founded in 1902 at 119 Suid Street, Polokwane Central, that has served the region as an “oasis of hospitality” for more than 120 years. The gracious style of the main building conveys a classic air of tradition and elegance, combining timeless architecture with modern amenities across 23 well-appointed en-suite rooms, four named conference rooms (the Bolton, Rhino, Cellar, and Protea Room), a restaurant described as “unlike any other in town,” a Presidential Suite, and the full infrastructure of a business-class city hotel. Located in the central business hub of Polokwane, close to the Limpopo regional government offices, 7 km from Polokwane International Airport (with paid shuttle service), next to the Polokwane sports grounds, and within striking distance of the N1 Bypass for travellers heading to the Kruger National Park, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique — the Pietersburg Club has the heritage, location, and service culture to justify its own self-description as a leader in luxury accommodation and great dining experiences.
120 Years of Hospitality: Founded 1902
The Pietersburg Club is not merely old — it is meaningfully historic. Founded in 1902, the club pre-dates South Africa’s Union by eight years and has witnessed more than a century of Polokwane’s transformation from frontier town to provincial capital. The “gracious style of the main building” that multiple booking platforms describe is not a renovation — it is an original built legacy from an era when buildings were designed for permanence and grandeur.
The club’s role as a non-profit organisation that serves the community as an event venue, hotel, and restaurant has kept it relevant across these decades — a gathering place for the Limpopo Province’s business, government, and social community that has evolved without losing its essential character.
Accommodation: 23 Rooms Including a Presidential Suite
The Pietersburg Club offers 23 well-appointed, air-conditioned en-suite rooms across four categories:
Standard Rooms — comfortable, well-maintained rooms suited to business travellers and short stays.
Deluxe Rooms — upgraded standard, with enhanced finishes and amenities.
Executive Rooms — the club’s business travel tier, featuring open-plan en-suite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs with DStv channels, air-conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, fridge, satellite television, safe, and tea and coffee tray.
Presidential Suite — designed to provide accommodation of particular comfort and elegance, the suite is furnished with a double bed, separate lounge, air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom, fridge, satellite television, safe, tea and coffee tray, and direct dial telephone. Also perfect for couples.
All rooms are serviced daily. A full continental breakfast is included in the rates and served daily. Lunch and dinner are available at the on-site restaurant. Breakfast and lunch packs can be arranged on request. Laundry service is available at an additional fee. Airport shuttle to and from Polokwane International Airport is available as a paid service. Free Wi-Fi throughout.
Four Conference Rooms: Bolton, Rhino, Cellar, and Protea
The Pietersburg Club offers four named conference rooms suited to the full range of corporate and private events, accommodating groups of 10 to 150 delegates:
The Bolton Room — suited to small to medium meetings, workshops, and intimate functions.
The Rhino Room — a mid-range conferencing space for presentations, training sessions, and corporate briefings.
The Cellar Room — a characterful venue option with the historical depth of the building’s heritage, suited to smaller group dinners, boardroom sessions, and private celebrations.
The Protea Room — the largest of the four rooms, accommodating the upper end of the 150-delegate capacity for larger conferences, seminars, and plenary sessions.
All conference rooms are fully air-conditioned. Flip chart, data projector, TV, and PA system are available on request. The event types served include: weddings, wedding receptions, business meetings, conferences, baby showers, and adult birthday parties.
The Restaurant: Unlike Any Other in Town
The Pietersburg Club’s restaurant has been described as “unlike any other in town” — a distinction that reflects both the unique heritage setting and the quality of the kitchen. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a menu that showcases local South African flavours alongside more international options. TravelGround reviewers praise the food specifically: “Very tasty, the food is excellent — enjoyed very much, thanks to the chef.” Another described the club as “a cute place with a lot of history and character” despite some concerns about room condition, with the food singled out as a highlight.
