Profile
Oakfield Farm Muldersdrift is one of Gauteng’s most storied, beloved, and consistently celebrated wedding and function venues — a 72-acre English country estate at Plot 240, Corner Beyers Naude Drive and Oakfield Farm Road, Muldersdrift, with more than 33 years of seamless event coordination and a 96% Facebook recommendation rate from over 500 reviews. Situated 30 minutes from both Johannesburg and Pretoria and just 10 minutes from Lanseria International Airport, Oakfield Farm Muldersdrift offers the rare combination of genuine countryside seclusion and convenient urban accessibility.
Set across manicured lawns, English floral borders, neatly cropped hedgerows, and statuesque heritage trees — including an ancient Oak tree that once served as a rest point for the Voortrekkers — Oakfield Farm Muldersdrift is a place of extraordinary living history. The Dairy Venue was built in 1940 by Italian prisoners of war. The Homestead began life as an old barn. The Conservatory was once a chicken run where Mrs Harrison grew her prized orchids. Nguni cows, horses, geese, and guineafowl still roam the fields. This is a farm that has been loved, lived in, and cherished — and that depth of history infuses every event hosted here.
A Farm of Living History — The Oakfield Story
Oakfield Farm’s story began in 1988, when Mary Slack fell in love with the property and purchased it with her long-time friend David Stubbs from the Harrison family. In 1991, David’s son Matthew Stubbs left his teaching career and arrived from the Cape with a load of horses. Quail eggs were sold, guinea fowl were bred, and fifteen Warmblood horses arrived from Alzu Stud for show jumping.
It was the old barn — overlooking the indigenous wood and freshwater stream — that came to the rescue. Converted into a reception venue, it became the Homestead and launched what is now one of Gauteng’s most celebrated wedding and function destinations. Over the next three decades, the Summerhouse, the Forest Chapel, the Dairy Venue, the bridal suites, and the Guest House followed — each addition rooted in the farm’s authentic character and history.
Four Exceptional Wedding Venues
The Summerhouse (Most Popular)
Oakfield Farm Muldersdrift’s most sought-after venue — an intimate fusion of contemporary glass architecture in an English country garden:
- Open wooden roof trusses and expansive glass sliding doors spilling into the gardens
- A Syringa tree with one foot inside and one foot outside the venue — a defining architectural feature
- Surrounded by roses in spring and summer and Arum Lilies in late July/early August after pruning
- Bubbling fountains create a serene ambiance at the back
- Crackling fireplaces in winter give the venue a distinctive warmth
- Capacity: 120+ guests comfortably
- Glass sliding doors open onto lush gardens on all sides; an intimate courtyard connects the spaces
The Homestead
A hidden gem tucked away in an enchanted indigenous forest:
- The farm’s original converted barn — Oakfield Farm’s founding venue
- Fireplaces in winter
- Capacity: Up to 350 guests
- The choice venue for many magical celebrity weddings
The Forest Chapel & Pavilion
Oakfield Farm Muldersdrift’s most majestic ceremony setting:
- Set in a grove of Cottonwood trees overlooking a tranquil pond fed by a natural spring
- Inspired by an old stone altar in an Oak Forest where five generations of the Halse family exchanged vows
- Arriving by horse-drawn carriage — included in the wedding package — the bride makes a grand entrance as guests glimpse her from the sweeping green lawns
- After the ceremony, guests are led through the forest to the Pavilion for canapés and drinks
- Adjacent to the Pavilion: the remains of one of the area’s tallest Oak trees, which met its end in a lightning storm during a severe drought after standing for 120 years
The Dairy Venue (built 1940 by Italian prisoners of war)
